The Candidacy Process is a discernment journey of exploring God’s call on your life. It is an intensive time of being present to the movement of the Holy Spirit through preparation, participation and prayer.
Exploring your call may seem overwhelming. To help navigate the journey, we have created a Step-By-Step Road Map. The goal is not finishing. The goal is faithfulness; one step at a time.
This step-by-step road map to the Candidacy process includes a list of items that should be included as a part of the candidate's inital letter to the District Superintendent requesting addmission into the candidacy process. To start the process you must meet with Rev. Linda Middelberg. Contact the capitolareanorth [at] wocumc.org (District Office) to schedule this meeting.
In reviewing the road-map, you will notice that the candidacy process is divided into three parts: before, at, and after a Candidacy Summit Retreat. Candidacy Summit Retreats are bi-annual events where candidates: worship, fellowship, meet with their mentoring group, learn, and reflect with others who are also exploring God’s call on their lives.
The Candidacy Summit is held in January and August annually at the Methodist Theological School. Click here to download the required forms and documents. Information must be received by the Office of Ministry usually by July 1 for the August Summit, and usually by December 1 for the January Summit in order to participate.
